12th October 2021

There’s a lot to consider when choosing a new lens – It can be quite daunting especially if you are new to the photography scene evaluating between the many lenses to choose from. Here are some tips on picking your perfect beginner all-rounder lens.

What do the lens names mean?

E.g., 24-105mm f/4L IS USM

RF - Mount system

24-105mm - Focal length

f/4 - Aperture

IS - Stabilization

USM - Motor type

An all-rounder lens is your Swiss army knife of lenses, one tool does it all from wide-angle to telephoto. These are great value lenses commonly known as a 'travel lens’ for photographers who like to bring only one lens which can go wide to take photos of scenery or zoom if needed.

When travelling you want a lens that can capture amazing scenery on your travels, and portraits of your travelling party. This lens is a great option when you need an affordable, versatile, lightweight, and a compact solution!
